Job Description

You’ll be the main point of contact for our clients, there to answer any bookkeeping questions they might have, and to provide friendly, valuable, and personalised support & advice. You’ll also plan and control the bookkeeping work, including VAT, Payroll & Bank Reconciliations and coordinate this with our team of accountants and delivery partners.

Are you an ambitious and open-minded individual who thinks differently? We’re looking for a tech-savvy bookkeeper and someone with at least two years industry experience to join the Ashton McGill team in Dundee on a full-time basis. You’ll be familiar with accounting software such as Xero and FreeAgent and understand the value they provide for small businesses. You’ll also be knowledgeable and interested in the technology market and the benefits that new innovations and Apps can provide for our clients.

We’re looking for someone with excellent organisation and people skills, with a great eye for detail. You should also be a good communicator, regularly keeping in touch with our clients, whilst understanding the importance of a human-centred approach to business. Our clients are innovators and enterprising business owners who do things differently, so we’re also looking for someone who understands entrepreneurship and the process of designing, running and launching a new business.

We’re looking for someone who questions things and asks why they have to be that way. As long as you’re curious and willing to learn, we’ll introduce you to new ways of working and thinking about things.

What You’ll Have:

Minimum of 1-year experience with Xero
Bookkeeping certification with a minimum of 1 years experience OR minimum of 3 years “on-the-job” experience
Experience with the following software (or similar) or be able to demonstrate an understanding of how they work together:
Xero
AutoEntry
G-Suite for Business
Slack
Zoom
Stripe & Paypal * Sound understanding of bookkeeping principles
Experience of VAT submission
Additionally, a bonus to have:

Xero Certified Advisor certification
Understanding of Xero apps and integrations
Payroll and pension submission experience
Experience in e-commerce/ subscription industry and high volume transactions
