5 Reasons Why You Should Start A Podcast For Your Business

This is our fifth month of hosting The Never Settle Podcast and we’ve loved every minute of it! Not only have we had great fun talking to a bunch of creative individuals who challenge the status quo, but we’ve learnt so much about their approaches, their mentalities and what drives them to keep doing what they do. Since starting a podcast for our business, we’ve never looked back—it’s strengthened our brand and given us a new creative outlet to do things outwith Ashton McGill.

Here’s our 5 main benefits of starting a business podcast:

Building Meaningful Relationships

Podcasting has given us the opportunity to chat with a range of inspiring people, from creatives and entrepreneurs to ambitious leaders and YouTubers! Building relationships with our guests has been one of the most rewarding aspects of Never Settle, and creating a local community of like-minded individuals. Podcasts are a great way to connect with people, both your guests and your listeners, and to nurture those meaningful relationships.

Sharing Inspiring Stories

At Ashton McGill, we’ve always been passionate about storytelling and about people—after all, we set up our business to help people and without them, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. Podcasts are a great outlet to move away from you and your brand to really get to know about others and to share their inspiring stories. Not only will you learn a thing or two, but you will be proactively educating and engaging with others to create an ongoing conversation about your chosen topic, which is pretty cool.

Learning New Skills Outside Your Main Role

Undoubtedly, hosting a podcast is a lot of work. From finding guests and a location, to recording, editing and uploading, podcasting requires dedication, commitment and consistency. But the biggest hurdle is just getting started! Podcasting has taught us new skills of getting to grips with recording equipment, creating interesting conversations within a time constraint and editing sound, to name a few. No matter what you do, it’s always beneficial to expand your skillset and keep challenging yourself.

Sharing Unique Content

A huge benefit of starting a business podcast is the truly original content you can share online. Not only will you be creating your own marketing content, but you will be creating valuable content that your guests can share too. It’s a win-win! Some of the guests we’ve had on Never Settle are clients of ours so it’s been a really great way to market some of the amazing things they’ve been up to to help elevate their brand.

Sharing Your Own Story

Podcasts are a brilliant way to share your own unique story and start an interesting conversation. It provides a creative outlet to discuss the things you’re passionate about and why you do what you do. Above all, podcasting can be anything you want it to be and you don’t have to follow the rules!
