The Ashton McGill Roadmap for 2024.

The Ashton McGill team recently came together for an inspiring day at the beautiful Gleneagles Hotel to kick off 2024. The day was brimming with plans, ideas, and strategies, all focused on enhancing our services and creating a more significant impact on the businesses we work with.

Here are the key insights we discovered to drive our business forward.

Reflecting on the past year.

We began the day by reflecting on the previous year, discussing our achievements, challenges, and learnings from 2023. This served as an excellent way to identify our strengths and areas of improvement, whilst providing a framework for planning our future strategies, taking the lessons learnt from the past into account.

As business owners, finding time to work on your own business when you’re busy delivering for clients can be tricky, so we made 2023 the year of improving our own systems and processes. We prioritised upgrading our systems, redefining our processes, and strengthening our team. As a result, our day-to-day operations improved significantly, creating better experiences for our clients.

But, we didn’t just grow as a business, we evolved as a family– a tight-knit unit that supports and uplifts each other every step of the way.

Our team has not only grown in number but also in skills and capabilities. We're making more informed decisions, delivering more value, and going above and beyond to ensure the success of our clients. It's not just about growth, it's about meaningful growth that makes a difference.

Most importantly, what’s come out of 2023 is learning to truly understand the needs of our clients. We're a design-led business, and understanding the needs and wants of our clients is crucial. This understanding helps us deliver on our value proposition and offer solutions that make a real difference to the businesses we support.

It's not just about growth, it's about meaningful growth that makes a difference.

Envisioning the future.

We then spent time envisioning the future of Ashton McGill and focusing on our vision– to help businesses and social enterprises grow to new heights.

At the heart of Ashton McGill's future vision is facilitating growth — both in businesses and people. We believe that true success is not merely about expanding in size or scale; it’s about fostering the growth of those within the business. We're dedicated to being more than just an accounting service, we aim to be a catalyst for growth, understanding what drives people and placing a strong emphasis on training and development. We firmly believe that a great job is an integral part of a great life and we're excited to steer businesses towards meaningful growth– all while ensuring the personal and professional development of the individuals who make it all possible.

Understanding our core.

One of our greatest joys comes from seeing our clients succeed and grow. We started Ashton McGill with the mission to help people build better businesses, to support them in their journey of growth. Seeing this mission come to life, seeing our clients thrive and prosper, both as individuals and as businesses, is incredibly enriching.

We further delved into understanding who we are as a team, our driving force, and the values that bind us together. This exploration of our identity and purpose was an essential part of the day, as it helped us align our personal values with our company values. It served as a reminder of our common goals and the commitment we share towards our purpose.

Shaping the future of accounting.

The Ashton McGill team day was a blend of introspection, planning, innovation, and collaboration. The key takeaways were the definition of AM values, alignment of personal and company values, and the formulation of a structure for success. The team left the day feeling inspired, energised, and ready to conquer the rest of 2024, eager to implement the plans and make an even bigger impact on the businesses we serve.

As we dive into 2024, we encourage other businesses to join us in this journey of reflection, visioning, and planning by taking the time to understand your past, envision your future, and align your values. We're excited about what the future holds and can't wait to continue our journey of helping businesses thrive.
