OPEN ROLE – SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Ready to grow into the accountant clients rely on?

  • Senior Accountant

  • Hybrid / Dundee

  • Full-time

  • Pathway to Account Manager

  • 6-12 month development route

You’ve built the technical foundation. Now you’re ready for more ownership, more client exposure & a clearer path towards advisory work.

As a Senior Accountant at Ashton McGill, you’ll work with ambitious founders, take ownership of meaningful client delivery & build the commercial skills to step into an Account Manager role.

This is a better way to grow: structured, supported, client-facing & designed around real impact.

ROLE PURPOSE

From technically excellent to commercially impactful.

This role is designed for a qualified or recently qualified accountant who’s ready to take the next step.

You’ll support some of our more complex clients, take ownership of performance reporting and year-end work, and work closely with Account Managers to understand how advisory relationships are built in practice.

Over your first 6-12 months, you’ll develop the technical, commercial, and communication skills needed to move towards managing your own client relationships.

You’ll still do excellent accounting work. But the goal is bigger than delivery. You’ll learn how to turn numbers into insight, insight into conversations, and conversations into better decisions for clients.

We’re growing & we need accountants who want to grow with us.

Ashton McGill works with ambitious founders who want more from their accountant than compliance. They want visibility, clarity, and support with the decisions that shape their business.

That means our team needs people who can do more than prepare the numbers. We need accountants who are curious, commercially minded, confident with clients, and ready to build relationships over time.

This role gives you the structure, exposure, and support to become that person.

What makes this a better way to grow?

  • You won’t be left guessing what comes next.

This role is the first step on our Account Manager pathway. You’ll know what skills you’re building, what milestones matter, and what support is available to help you progress.

  • You’ll work closely with Account Managers in live client conversations, review meetings, and planning sessions.

You won’t learn advisory work in theory. You’ll see how it happens in practice.

  • You’ll work on performance reports, forecasts, cashflow, year-end accounts, and decision-support reporting.

The work lands somewhere real. Founders read it, discuss it, and use it to make decisions.

  • You’ll work with a modern accounting stack and build skills that matter for where the profession is heading.

That means better systems, better reporting, better conversations, and less time spent on work that doesn’t create value.

  • You’ll be supported by people who are invested in your growth.

Through internal support, external coaching, development time, and live client exposure, we’ll help you build the confidence to step up.
