OUR MISSION
Accounting measured by impact, not output.
Most accounting firms measure success by how many tax returns they file. We measure ours by whether our clients can see their numbers clearly, understand what they mean, and make smarter decisions because of us.
We set up Ashton McGill because we'd experienced the alternative — reactive advice, jargon-filled reports, accountants who disappeared for 11 months — and we knew business owners deserved better.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND IT
Built by three people who bring very different things to the table.
Alasdair brought 30 years of business experience. Andy brought design thinking and commercial strategy. And Jared brought the operational discipline to make sure every client gets the same outstanding experience as the firm grows.
Andy McGill
COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR
A designer and marketer — not an accountant. That's the point. Brings the client perspective, design thinking, and commercial strategy. Previously delivered projects for Scottish Power, Volkswagen, and Xero.
Jared Cordner
OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
ICAS qualified chartered accountant who joined in 2020 and earned his stake through four years of building the firm's operations. Also acts as an account manager for a number of clients — so he's as close to the work as anyone.
Alasdair McGill
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Qualified with Ernst & Young in 1993. Spent 25 years running businesses across multiple industries before co-founding Ashton McGill. Also Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Dundee and CFO of Dundee Football Club.
